Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 16) - President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Court of Appeals Justice Priscilla Baltazar-Padilla to the Supreme Court, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque confirmed on Thursday.

Roque said that Padilla was appointed as Associate Justice.

She served the Court of Appeals for 14 years since 2006.

Padilla was among the seven nominees whose names were submitted to the President by the Judicial and Bar Council for the seat vacated by Associate Justice Andres B. Reyes Jr., who retired last May 11.

According to the Council rules, nominees must be under 67 years and 6 months old to serve for a maximum of 2.5 years before they retire at age 70.
