Ilocos Sur under state of calamity due to 'Maring'

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 18) — Ilocos Sur has been placed under state of calamity due to the onslaught by Tropical Storm Maring last week.

Ilocos Sur Governor Ryan Singson on Monday made public a resolution the provincial government passed on Oct. 13 placing the whole province under state of calamity to mobilize and utilize all available resources for the relief and rehabilitation of affected individuals.

According to the latest situational report of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, the tropical storm left over ₱512.9 million damage in agriculture and around ₱699.4 million in infrastructure in Ilocos Sur.

There are 32 rain-induced incidents reported in Ilocos Sur, where 14 persons died and five individuals are missing.
